Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of group vs individual therapy?

Group therapy provides a unique opportunity for your child to practice and generalise the skills they have learnt in individual therapy sessions to real-life situations whilst interacting with children their own age in a supportive and structured environment.

Do the group sessions replace a normal therapy session?

If your child is attending one of our 3-day holiday intensive programs, we will happily reserve their therapy time for that week if they are unable to attend both. If your child is attending one of our 10-week term programs, it is still beneficial for your child to continue to attend their regular weekly session in addition to the group program as their individual goals may not be targeted in the group sessions. The group sessions are designed to focus predominantly on social skills whilst incorporating language, literacy, and/or fine motor skills indirectly through this.

What happens if the group program is at the same time as my weekly therapy session?

If the group program time and day clashes with your usual therapy time, you can speak with your therapist to reschedule your session to another time within the week.

How do I know if my child is suitable to attend the group?

Once you have registered your interest in our group, your child may need to go through a screener process to determine their suitability for the group. This will be organised prior to securing a place within the group.

Will I receive feedback about my child’s progress throughout the lifecycle of the group?

Yes, the therapist running the program will provide parents with a quick overview after each the session. Additionally, all families will receive a summary report outlining areas of strengths and improvements as well as any recommendations.

Does my NDIS funding cover the fees?

Yes, you are able to use your child’s NDIS funding to cover the group payment. If you are plan managed, there will be additional paperwork that our admin team will get you to sign before your child starts the program.
