Literacy Group

This 10-week program, targeted for children between the ages of 5 - 8, is designed to support children in developing their literacy skills using the Sounds-Write approach. This method teaches children the relationship between sounds and written letters. Through instruction, your child will gain a solid foundation in phonemic awareness, phonics and spelling skills resulting in them becoming a confident and proficient reader and writer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Group therapy provides a unique opportunity for your child to practice and generalise the skills they have learnt in individual therapy sessions to real-life situations whilst interacting with children their own age in a supportive and structured environment.

  • If your child is attending one of our 3-day holiday intensive programs, we will happily reserve their therapy time for that week if they are unable to attend both. If your child is attending one of our 10-week term programs, it is still beneficial for your child to continue to attend their regular weekly session in addition to the group program as their individual goals may not be targeted in the group sessions. The group sessions are designed to focus predominantly on social skills whilst incorporating language, literacy, and/or fine motor skills indirectly through this.

  • If the group program time and day clashes with your usual therapy time, you can speak with your therapist to reschedule your session to another time within the week.

  • Once you have registered your interest in our group, your child may need to go through a screener process to determine their suitability for the group. This will be organised prior to securing a place within the group.
