At Moving Mountains Therapy we have multiple service delivery models to address different goals and support the generalisation of goals. An Allied Health Assistants role is to provide assistance and support to clients under the supervision of a senior therapist. Our AHA’s are studying in the fields of Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology and in their final years of study. This is a cost effective program that allows children to access services in their home or their school.

Allied Health Assistant (AHA)

Do you need an AHA?

  • Do you have difficulty getting home practice completed?

  • Do you want increased consistency of sessions to encourage faster outcomes?

  • Are you waiting to book in additional sessions with your therapists?

  • Does your child require sessions within the home and/or school to foster generalisation of the skills they are learning in the clinic?

  • Does your child have a mild communication or motor goal to address but they are still on waiting lists?

What do our AHA’s support with:

Implementing Therapy Activities

Assisting clients with exercises and activities designed by therapists to target speech, language, motor, and sensory goals, helping children work towards their developmental milestones. This ensures children have consistency and appropriate intensity for their home practice.

Supporting Generalisation of Skills

Assisting clients in practising and applying learned skills across different settings and activities, helping them to generalise communication, motor, and self-care skills from the clinic to everyday environments like home, school, and community settings. This reinforces consistency and independence outside of therapy sessions.

Increased collaboration with Educators and Parents

Working closely with teachers and parents to ensure consistency in therapy strategies across home and school environments. This collaboration helps reinforce techniques and skills learned in sessions, providing families and educators with guidance and resources to support the child’s development outside the clinic on a more regular basis

Tracking Progress and Providing Feedback

Documenting children’s progress in sessions and relaying insights to therapists, ensuring adjustments to therapy plans are made based on each child's evolving needs.
